Managing Director
Tim Puthoff serves as Managing Director at Healthcare Management Partners, LLC (HMP), a Nashville-based healthcare turnaround management and financial advisory firm with more than 20 years of experience guiding healthcare organizations and their creditors through complex financial and operational challenges. He also works closely with HMP Senior Solutions, HMP's senior living and skilled nursing division, supporting operational leadership and post-acute care alignment initiatives.
With more than 30 years of experience in hospital and health system operations, Puthoff brings deep executive leadership expertise to HMP's restructuring and performance improvement engagements. He has served in CEO-level roles at hospitals owned by national systems including Community Health Systems and HCA Healthcare, where he led initiatives focused on financial stabilization, quality improvement, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Most recently, Puthoff helped to lead the successful ownership transition of the St. Vincent's Health System in Birmingham from Ascension to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), managing a complex transaction that required strategic alignment, operational continuity, and stakeholder coordination across multiple constituencies.
Throughout his career, Puthoff has consistently delivered measurable improvements in financial performance, expense management, emergency department throughput, and system-wide operational efficiencies while maintaining a strong commitment to patient-centered care. His leadership philosophy integrates disciplined financial oversight with quality metrics and long-term sustainability planning.
At HMP, Puthoff focuses on hospital restructuring assignments, operational turnarounds, and performance optimization engagements. His experience in acute care operations also strengthens collaboration between hospitals and post-acute providers, reinforcing care continuity strategies that reduce avoidable readmissions and improve outcomes across the continuum.
Puthoff holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida. He has served as President of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Alabama Hospital Association's Birmingham Regional Council, and board member of the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council and Northwest Assistance Ministries in Houston.
