Steven L. Smith is currently fulfilling the role of CEO at Huntsville Memorial Hospital as an employee of Healthcare Management Partners (HMP). Smith has 39 years of experience in medical center executive leadership. He spent 2008 through 2018 as CEO of Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City, TX. There, as an employee of Quorum Health Resources, he provided day-to-day strategic and operational leadership for 58-bed general acute care hospital with annual net revenues of $68M and 450 FTEs, freestanding wellness and rehabilitation center, an affiliated multi-specialty provider group, a primary care clinic, and a rural ACO. Smith was the driving force behind the formation of the Texas Rural Accountable Care Organization (TRACO), serving as its board chair for three years. TRACO is a network of seven rural communities, formed with the support of Caravan Health, a rural ACO management company, to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings ACO program beginning in 2015. He has also acted as CEO of Sugar Land Surgical Hospital, CEO of Kingwood Specialty Hospital, Hospital President and System Chief Operating Officer of Coffee Health Group, and President and CEO of Memorial Medical Center, among other positions. Smith received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Alabama and obtained his Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University. Smith is a Board Certified Fellow (FACHE)designated by the American College of Healthcare Executives. Huntsville Memorial Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited, not-for-profit acute care community hospital. It provides health care services to the residents of Walker County and the surrounding communities.
